הטרידה מאד את הנהלת ביה״ס ואת ועד־האפוטרופסים שלו. והנה
בא הגואל, הוא שמעון פירסטנברג, נשמתו עדן, העסקן הבלתי־
נלאה והנדבן הנדיר, שגמר אומר להקים בנין חדש וראוי לשמו
לגימנסיה. ואכן הוא הגשים את רעיונו: רכש מגרש נרחב ברח׳
סוביאסקאגו, וכעבור שנים מעטות התנוסס עליו לתפארת בנין רב־
מידות ורחב־ממדים על כל השכלולים והשיפורים והציוד שהיינו
גאים עליו, גם לו היה ניצב בישראל. בבנין המכובד הזה הושקעו
סכומי־כסף ענקיים, והנדיב לא חסך מאומה, כדי שיהיה ביצוע
