נתגייס לצה״ל. גם בצבא התחבב על מפקדיו וחבריו. השתתף
בקרבות רבים. בימי המצור על ירושלים, שירת כחבלן בחיל־ההנדסה
והיה ממניחי מוקשים בשטח המפות, תחת מטר היריות של הלגיון
