למדתורהבישיבות, וגם חזנות, בעל טנור צלילי מעודן. בשנת
1915 בא לאודיסה, כיהן בחזנות בבית־הכנסת הגדול בוילנה,
היה בביאליסטוק, ואחריכן נתקבל בשנת 1925 בבריסק כחזן
לבית־הכנסת הגדול והופיע בלווית מקהלה. בית־הכנסת היה מלא
מתפללים שעה שעבר לפני התיבה. באחד החגים ניסה זופוביץ
לחבוש לראשו לכבוד החג כיפה חזנית לבנה וגדולה, כמנהג
החזנים החדישים מבית מדרשו של זולצר הוינאי. אך הרב זאב
סולוביצ׳יק ציווה עליו להסיר את הכיפה מראשו, משום שראה
בה "הליכה בחוקות הגויים", ורק אחר שציית לדרישת הרב הותר
לו להתחיל בתפילה. מאז היתה עמידתו בבריסק כעל גחלים
לוחשות, והוא השתדל להחליף את מקומו באחר. ...
