אחרי זמן חדל להיות פקיד בבית ברגסון, ובחפצו להתפרנס
ממקצוע מכובד ומועיל השתלם ברוקחות, שלא היתד. אז נפוצה
בין היהודים, וביחוד בין החרדים. הוא נסע ללבוב, עמד בבחינה
ב״ועד לעניני הרופאים" וקבל תואר "רוקח מוסמך". את בית
המרקחת פתח בעיר פשיסחה, מחוז רדום. מבית המרקחת התפרנס
רבי שמחה בונם בכבוד והיה ידוע לאצילים הפולנים ולרופאי
הסביבה. בזמן מלחמות נפוליאון היה מספק רפואות לחיל הצרפתים.
למרות עסקיו ובית המרקחת לא חדל כל הזמן גם מלעסוק בחסידות,
והתקרב — מלבד נסיעותיו לקוזניץ ואפטא — גם לרבי דוד
מלילוב, והלה נסע עמו ל״חוזה" מלומלין שקרבהו מאד. ...Connected nodes
