תמיד חיפשתי הזדמנות לשלוח לו את המעיל בו נתפר צרור הצינקאלי. הסתכנתי וסובבתי תכופות את ככר ביודהאסורים, ופעם אף העזתי לדפוק בשעריו. אמרו לי, שהמעיל לא נחוץ לבני, זני חם לו די, וציווני להסתלק מיד. חזרתי הביתה מיואש. למחרת, בשעת־ליל מאוחרת, נשמעו נקישות בדלת דירתי. הופיע שוטר ודרש
