אבער אט די האפענונג איז גלייך צערונען. אפגײענדיק עטליכע מעטער האבּן מיר באגעגנט דעם ערשטן לוקאװער פאאאק. איך האב אים גלייך דערקענט: דאס איז קח־טשיק, א לערער פון דער לוקאװער גימנאזיע. ער האט זיך אפגעשטעלט און נישט געװוּסט װאס צו טאן מיט אונדז. איך האב שוין געװאלט אויסשטרעקן די האנט און פרעגן: ״פאניע קרוטשיק, צי לעבט װער פון אונזער פאמיליע״? אבער ער שטעלט זיך אװעק אין דער גאנצער ברייט און זאגט מיט א געדעמפטער שטימע: ״יודקא, זשייעש״ז (יודקע, דו לעבסט?), און אין דער גרימאסע אויף זיין פנים האב איך דערקענט, אז ער מיינט עפעס אנדערש: װי אזוי האט היטלער נאך איבערגעלאזט ײדן ז.
