בבחירות בשנת 1870 נבחר בלבוב מועמד "שומר ישראל״ ד״ר הרמן פרנקל, שקיבל 2344 קולות מתוך 3550. הבחירות היו סוערות מאד. -,האגודה הדמוקרטית "של הפולנים יצאה נגד היהודים והפיצה עלונים אנטי־יהודיים בקהל. היו אפילו התנגשויות עם יהודים ברחוב ונופצו שמשות בדירות של יהודים. בככר־קרקא הגיעו הדברים לידי מהלומות־דמים עד שהצבא הוכר ח להתערב. ...Connected nodes
