אחרי הכתרת ישניוביצקי, שעוררה אי־רצון בעיני הקוזאקים, הם הצליחו להסית את התורכים לפלוש לפולין. הם דרשו שפולין תוותר על חבל אוקראינה וב־29 באוגוסט 1672 כבשו את קאמיניץ־פודולכקי, מכאן יצאו בכיוון לבובה. העיריה בקשה מאת המלך עזרה צבאית. שר־הצבא יאן סוביסקי שבא לבובה היה יכול להגן על העיר במספר מועט של חיל־רגלים ופרשים. ...Connected nodes
