... ראשי המרד בוארשה בקשו להשפיע על קהילות
לבוב וגליציה על־ידי יסוד ועדים פולניים־יהודיים —
אולם לשוא היו המאמצים, כי מלבד הקבוצה הקטנה
של הסטודנטים, וצוקר בראשה, לא הצטרפו המוני העם
לתנועה הפולנית. רק בחורים מספר הצטרפו ליחידות
המורדים או עזרו לפולנים בתחנות הגבול בין גליציה
ורוסיה. נציגי קהלת לבוב עוד הדגישו בכל הזדמנות
את מסירותם לאוסטריה. ב־21 באוגוסט 1863 הופיעה
משלחת הקהלה בפני הנציב מנסדירף והודתה
לממשלה על הרחבת הזכויות האזרחיות והקלות
התעסוקה. ב־14 בנובמבר 1863 פנה הועד הלאומי
בלבוב שוב אל היהודים בקריאה לאחדות ולפעולה
