בתוך־העיר, שהיתה פנויה מזמן פטירתו של ר׳ אריה־
ליב בנו של הגאון ר׳ שמחה רפפורט, בשנת 1759.
הקטיגור של הפודוויבודה אולנובסקי ראה אפילו הכרח
לעצמו להגיש ב־27 ביוני 1765 תלונה על ראשי־
הקהל זלמן פנקיס ומשה מנקים ועל הפרנסים עזריאל
זלוצובסקי, דוד השלים, יוסף צימלס, ישראל רייס,
יעקב לבקוביץ, הרשקו הולים, מארק בורוכוביץ,
אנטשיל קורזניק ומאיר ראסקי, שלא צייתו להוראות
ודחו את בחירת הרב, דחוי שהזיק לעניני הקהלה.
על יסוד תלונתו נענשו פרנסי שתי הקהילות בקנס
של 50 זה׳ לטוב האוצר ו־100 גרזיבני לטובת בית־
