האופוזיציה נכנעה ומנקים חזר לשלטונו. הבחירות
בשנת 1765 עברו בלי שום הפרעות, רשימתו של
מנקים נבחרה בשלמותה. אכן, סובולישין לא נואש,
ואחרי שהתאושש ממפלתו החליט להתקרב אל מנקים.
נעשה אחד מבאי ביתו, ובשנת 1766 נבחר גם לפרנס־
הקהלה. אמנם, שאיפתו העיקרית להיות ראש־הקהלה
היתה עוד רחוקה ממנו, אבל לאט־לאט התקרב אלConnected nodes
