מנחם ואליעזר "די־יונה" היתה משפחה ידועה ומיוחסת
שפעלה הרבה לטובת אחיהם בפולין בסוף המאה הי״ז.
כל גדולי הדור, הט״ז ואחרים, מזכירים אותם לשבח
ומציינים את עבודתם המסורה לטובת אחיהם. במיוחד
מזכירים את שמחה מנחם (עמנואל) הנקרא בפי העם
"שמחה דוקטור", שהיה רופא השולטן ואחר־כך עד
1696 רופא המלך הפולני יאןסוביסקי. הוא תרם בשנת
1689 מזכרת נאה לבית־הכנסת ע״ש "טורי זהב" בתוך־
העיר, מנורה גדולה ויפה מברונזה, מלאכת־יד של
אומן בברסלוי, ששמו היה חקוק עליה [בשנת 1942,
כשהחריבו הנאצים ימ״ש את בית־הכנסת הנ״ל הוציאו
גם את המנורה]. ד״ר שמחה מנחם היה פעמים נשיא
ועד ארבע־ארצות, בשנים 1697 — 1702.Connected nodes
