כניעתה. העירייה התנגדה לדרישתם ושלחה למפקד־
התיירכים, קאפודאךפחה, מתנות, אולם, הוא סרב
לקבלן והתקיף את העיר ביריות מיום 23 עד 28
בספטמבר 1672. המצור העיק על העיר, שליחו של
המלך הגיע העירה והביא הוראה לנהל מו״מ עם
התורכים ולשלם להם כופר. התורכים דרשו 100.000
גולדים אדומים ולא היה בכוחם של תושבי העיר לתת
סכום כזה, ובקושי רב נגבו 5000 גולדין. אחרי שהתורכים
נוכחו לדעת שאין אפשרות להשיג את הכופר כלו,
הסכימו לקבל את הסכום שנגבה ולהמציא להם 12
בני תערובת, וביניהם היו גם 2 יהודים. רק אחרי שבע
