ב־ 23 בספטמבר 1914 נתקבלו הרב ר׳ אריה־ליב
ברוידא וד״ר הויזנר ע״י הגנרל־גוברנטור גראף
בוברינסקי, והוא דרש מהם להקפיד על הסדר, אחרת
— יצטרך לאחוז באמצעים קשים נגד היהודים, בתואנה
שהיהודים הם אויבי רוסיה נעצרו יהודים רבים ומעט
הרכוש שהיה להם נשדד מידם. מזכיר ה״אוכרנה"
(הבולשת הרוסית) היה רב־סרן יאציביץ, מי־שהיה
פקיד הקונסוליה הרוסית בלבד ובמעורב במשפט
ריגול, ונידון לחזור לרוסיה. הוא הכיר יפה את לבוב
וניצל את כהונתו כדי להתעשר. הוא נעצר אח״כ גם
ע״י הרוסים בגלל מעילות ותרמיות. בינתים היה
