כהרי מלחמת רבני ליטא בה. הקרע בינה לבין החסידות
לא היה גדול כל כך, כי רוב החסידים והצדיקים
שבגליציה היו עוסקים בתורה. כשבא הצדיק ר׳ ישראל
מריז׳ין לגליציה, השתוממו עליו הלמדנים: הזה
האיש שאינו קורא ואינו לומד מרעיש את עולם
החסידות? הם הביטו עליו ועל הנוהים אחריו בשחוק
ובביטול. הם חפצו לשמוע מפיו תורה ולראות במעשיו
כשם שהסכינו לראות ולשמוע אצל צדיקי גליציה.
הם לא הסתפקו בדברים שאין בהם אלא אמונה שבלב.
