טהוךהוהנשטיין ( 1811 — 1888 ) כשר־החינוך והדתות,
להטות את דעתו למטרותיהם ליציר באוסטריה "הפרדת
האדוקים " (טרענונגס־אורטאדאקסיע). הדבר נעשה
בעזרתו של יצחק דייטש ׳־ 4 ) שבתזכיריו הלשין והשמיץ
את הנאורים במהפכנים מסוכנים, ותיאר את האדוקים
כ״עבדי הקיסר הנאמנים ביותר ומתנגדים לכל תנועה
מהפכנית וליברלית". הרוזן ליאון טהון, שכרית ברית
(קונקורדאט ) עם הואטיקאן, חלם גם על חתימת
"קונקורדאט " עם היהודים ולסכל בכך את חדירת
הליברליות אל שורות היהודים. מטעם זה הסכים אפילו
לחוקק חוק על איסור פתיחת חנויות יהודיות בשבת,
