... עם בואו ללבוב הביע התנגדות ל״שומר ישראל",
שראה בו מכשיר לגרמניזצ׳־ה ואויב לפולנים. בתמיכת
הפולנים נבחר בשנת 1876 כציר לסיים הגליצאי,
וארג סביבו את הנוטים להתבוללות הפולנית. בשנת
1878 יסד את ״אגודת "דורשי־שלום" (בפולנית:
"זגאדא", ומטרתה לשפר את "היחס הסוציאלי והפו-
ליטי" אל הפולנים, שהתערער עד לבלתי־נשוא בגלל
פעולות "שומר ישראל". בראש האגודה, שהצטרפו
אליה חברי האינטליגנציה היהודית־פולנית, עמדו ד״ר
גולדמן, מאוריצי לאזארוס, ד״ר פילים צוקר, חבר
מועצת־העיר ד״ר י. בלומנפלד. האגודה הוציאה שבועון
פולני "זגודא", עם תוספת באידית, שיצאה לאור
פעמיים בחודש, אולם התוספת נפסקה לאחר חדשים
