נתקבל לאב״ד גליל לבוב, בזמן כהונת ר׳ חיים כהן
רפפורט ואחריו ר׳ שלמה מחעלמא כאבות בתי־דין
בעיר. תלמיד מובהק של ר׳ ישראל בעל־שם־טוב.
באחד מספריו הוא כותב: "מילדותי, מיום שנתחברתי
בדבקות אהבה עם מורי ידידי הרב החסיד מו״ה
ישראל בעש״ט ז״ל ידעתי נאמנה שהיתה הנהגתו
בקדושה ובטהרה ברוב חסידות ופרישות צדיק באמונתו
יחיה. במטמרין גליין ליה". מלבוב הלך לאוסטריאה
כרב אב״ד, חיבר שו״ת "מאיר נתיבים", "אור עולם"
