אחרי שבתי־הטפר נסגרו והיהודים היו פטורים
מן הצורך בתעודותיהם כתנאי להשגת רשיון־נשיאין,
הוטלה על היהודים "גזרה" חדשה. כתחליף
לבחינות בבית־הספר נדרש כל המבקש רשיון־נשואין
לעמוד בבחינה בידיעות־הדת לפי ספרו של הרץ
הומברג "בני ציון" ("איין רעליגיעז־מאראלישע
לעהרבוך פיר די יוגענד איזראעליטישער נאציאן"),
שאושר בפקודת הקיסר כספר־למוד לבתי״ס היהודיים
באוסטריה. הבחינות נעשו ע״י ועדה מחוזית שהיו בה
פקיד־המחוז, נציג־העיריה, הרב או מורה־דת. הגזירה
