גר ועפ״ר יהודים עניים, רוכלים ובעלי־מלאכה. שם
התרכז גם אספסוף ולא פעם נתפסו גנבים יהודים
וגם שודדים כגון אברהם דנקוביץ, השל יושקה, הרוצח
המפורסם דוד מושקוביץ קונפדרט. הוא התחיל לפעול
כסוחר סוסים, אח״כ היה גנב־סוסים וכשהזדקן ארגן
כנופיה של שודדים ועמד בראשה והתנפל על סוחרים
הנוסעים בכביש לגליניאני, יצחק מלובלין ומושקו
"גזלן" שעמד בראש כנופיה יהודיתונוצרית, הטילו
פחד על הרובע היהודי ועל העוברים בכבישים, ולא
פסקו התנפלויות, התנגשויות וגניבות ברובע זה.
