הנשים ׳ האמהות והבנות של האסירים השתדלו
להביא לבני משפחתם אוכל בגניבה . לשם־כך עמדו
שעות תמימות לפני שער המחנה או על־יד התיל יציפו
להזדמנות להעביר על ידי איזה מכר ׳ או שוטר משוחד ,
דבר־מה בשביל מקורביהן . עמידה זו על־יד המחנה
היתה מסוכנת מאד , כי השוטרים היכו את הנשים
המחכות ׳ דחאו אותן ולפעמים אף ירו בהן . בשנת 1943 ,
כשכל יהודי — בשים וטף בכלל — היה בחזקת מועמד

התנועה. לפיכך, לא הגיע אלינו תיאור מלא של כל
התנועה אלא קטעי דברים שנשתמרו בפי מתי־מספר
שהצליחו להמלט מגיא־המוות. ידוע, שבמשך שנת
1942 נתארגנה עזרה עצמית שבראשה עמדו: ריכרד
אקסר (בנו של הפרקליט הידוע), איש צעיר בעל־
אופי ונפש רגישה ׳ ויעקובוביץ. בחלק המחנה שהיה
שייך ל־.ם היה פעיל חוג אחר שניהלוהו:
העתונאי דוד פרנקל ׳ צעיר ממנהיגי "השומר הצעיר"׳
אברהם ווארמאן ("ברונק") ואחרים. העזרה העצמית
הכשירה —את הקרקע להתנגדות מזויינת, ובינתיים
סייעה לבריחת יחידים מן המחנה, סיפקה בגדים
לבורחים, המציאה להם מקומות־מקל ט ומחבוא בעיר ׳
תעודות מזוייפות וכר. שדה פעולה חשוב היתה גם
העזרה לחולים ולרעבים במחנה׳ בה היו פעילים ביהוד
הרופאים ד״ר בורים פליסקין, ד״ר לוסט׳ ס. כהן, מ.
אוסמן וה. בירנבוים.
במחנה התנהלה גם פעולה ספרותית במחתרת. ...Connected nodes
