כפי שקראו החסידים לתלמיד הבעש״ט, עשה נסיון
ראשון בהופיעו כמוכיח חסידי דווקא בעיר לבוב,
שהיתה מלאה ת״ח ורבנים ששלטו בה אז שלטון בלי
מצרים, ודוקא בביהכנ״ס הגדול, שלא כל דרשן ומוכיח
זכה לעמוד בו על הבימה. האגדה החסידית מספרת
הרבה על נסיונו של ה״מוכיח" לדרוש בביהכנ״ס
הגדול בלבוב, במעמד חשובי העדה והרב בראשם.
הדרשה המיוסדת על דברי הבעש״ט ,.ודתה טובה
בעיניהם מאד". והוא רכש לו את לב הקהל לחסידות,
והרב הזמינו לביתו והחזיקו כאורח במשך שלושה
שבועות. אבל אסתייעא מילתא: הרב נפטר זמן
