נוכח בעלי־המלאכה הנוצריים שכבר במחצית המאה
הט״ו היו מאורגנים ב־25 אגודות. בעלי־המלאכה
הנוצריים — ביחוד חייטים ופרוונים — השתדלו
להגביל את חופש הפעולה של היהודים. בשנת 1543
הצליחו החייטים והפרוונים הנוצריים בלבוב להשיג
מאת המלך זיגמונט איסור על בעלי־המלאכה היהודים
לתפור חליפות, ביחוד מלבושי־כפר, ולסחור בהם
בירידים. האיסור לא הועיל הרבה ואגודות בעלי־
המלאכה בקשו בשנת 1548 שוב את עזרת המלך
