וחום היה שורר בו בימות החורף, היו באים להתחמם
גם עניים. אנשי "העולם התחתון" ניצלו את המקום,
ובבואם, לדבריהם, כדי להתחמם, התחבאו והחביאו
במקום "סחורות גנובות", ובחיפושים שנערכו במקום
לעתים קרובות נמצאו סחורות האסורות לפי החוק,
והדבר גרם לחילול־השם ממש.
