והיא מלאה את חובתה. במסירות ובדייקנות. יהוד
סוקולקה נשמו לרווחה, אבל השמחה לא ארכה זמן
רב. מיד התחילה נסיגת הצבא הגרמני משטחי הכבוש
וחזרתו לגרמניה. בינתיים קם, בעזרת ממשלות צרפת
ואנגליה, צבא פולני מסודר ומצויד בנשק ותחיל להת-
קדם ולכבוש את כל השטחים המפונים והנעזבים. כשד-
גיעו השמועות שהצבא הפולני כבש את ביליסטוק והוא
מוכן להכניס לסוקולקה, הבינו היהודים, שמתקרב יום
הכבוש המר. אימת־מוות תקפה את יהודי העיר. הגר-
מנים התחילו להתכונן לעזוב את סוקולקה על נשקם
ועל ציודם. פחד הגרמנים נפל על הפולנים והם לא העיזו
לגעת בהם לרעה. עד שיצאו מן העיר. ...Connected nodes
