בחזרה. אני מרגיע אותם; לא באתי אלא לחפש, אולי
שריד דבר מחפצי, מסמכי, תמונותי. אני עובר על פני
כל הבית, עולה לעלית־הגג, מחפש בכל פנה. אף דבר
לא נמצא. בעלי־הבית החדשים מחייכים: "לא תמצא,
אדוני, דבר, הגיטו היהודי "נחרש" לארכו ולרחבו,
חפרו בו וחטטו, כל דבר־ערך נלקח וכל היתר נשרף
