1795, עברה כל פודלסיה לשלטון פרוסיה. ומיד החלה
ריאורגניזציה בכל השטח. שמו של חבל פולין־ליטא
הוסב לחבל "פרוסיה המזרחית החדשה" (ניי אוסטפ־
רויסן). בחבל החדש ישבה אוכלוסיה של למעלה מחצי
מיליון נפש. סוקולקה, יחד עם כל החלק המערבי של
פלך גרודנה, עברו לידי הפרוסים ונשארו תחת שלטונם
