בתמיכתו של הג״ר שמואל מוהילובר אב״ד ביאליסטוק
שעמד לימינו, אולם בהיותו צנוע ואיסטנים לא רצה
במחלוקת וותר על המשרה כשם שוויתר גם על רבנות
וואשילקובה, וכאמור היה רחוק מפרסום בשבתו בביא־
ליסטוק למעלה משלשים שנה, נחבא אל הכלים, מתנהג
בענוותנות והצנע לכת. ישבו לו באחד מבתי המדרשות
בפינתו המיוחדת למד ולימד בשקידה רבה מבלי להת־
בלט בגדלותו התלמודית. אולם, יחידי הסגולה שבעיר
גדולה זו ידעו שאיש גדול נמצא בתוכם. היו לו לר׳ יעקב
משה ידיעות מקיפות בכל מקצועות התורה וגם בקיאות
עצומה בתנ״ך, בדקדוק ובשימוש הלשון וכי שיטת
לימודו היתה בדרך הגר״א מווילנה ור׳ חיים מוואלוזין.
קברו בבית העלמין (החדש) שבביאליסטוק הוא בשורת
גאוניה ורבניה־מופלגיה.
