זאת ועוד. בעל־הרשימה מזכיר שבתקופת המלחמה
הראשונה התגורר הרב גולדין כפליט מלחמה בב־אליס־
טוק ושם דרש תכופות בבית המדרש שברחוב "עולם
חדש" (ניי־וועלט") בשבח הציונות הדתית ואף עזר
בהרבה לשיקום בתי־הספר התורניים־לאורים של חברת
"לומדי ש״ס" ברחוב האצילים (שלאכעצקה) שבוטלו בזמ
ן המלחמה ונתחדשו בשם "תחכמוני". במס-
גרת חנוכית זו פעלו בית־ספר יסודי לבנים ולבנות
(בנפרד) וכן "תחכמוני גבוה" לתורת וחכמת
ישראל. בסיומה של המלחמה חזר ר׳ ישראל גולדין
לעירתו סערהייא, שבינתיים עברה לתחום מדינת ליטא
העצמאית, וגם שם הוא פעיל בתנועת "המזרחי" והרבה
בנסיעות ובקורים לטובת הקרנות הציוניות ועניני התנו-
