לציר פארבשטיין היו שיחות ארוכות עם באי־כח
הפועלים, שתיארו בדמעות שליש את מצבם הנורא.
בעליהם הקודמים יכולים להעיד, שמימיהם לא היו
זקוקים לשום תמיכה, כי אכלו מיגיע כפיהם. אך הנה
זה כשנה שהנם מחוסרי עבודה וכבר מכרו את כל
חפציהם. בימי החורף כשהיתה אפשרות להשיג עבודה
ביער, היו הולכים לחטוב עצים בשכר מצער ובלךך
שלא יבואו לידי מתנת בשר ודם. כיום אין גם להשיג
עבודה כזו ואין להם מזון אפילו כדי סעודה אחת.
רבים מנשיהם ובניהם של הפועלים חלו וצובו מרעב.
הרבה חלו במחלת השחפת. קופת החולים הסתלקה
