ר׳ שמשון היה מחזר גם בערים שבפלך לומזה, ובגלל
שמו הטוב שהלך לפניו כמופלג בידיעות ומרביץ תורה
שלא על מנת לקבל פרס ודבק בציונות בכל נפשו
ומאוד, נפתחו לפניו בתי־המדרשות ולא היה אף רב
אחד שיעיז להתנגד לדרשותיו בעניני הציונות. בוועידה
השניה של תנועת "המזרחי" שהתקיימה בתרס״ג בלידא
השתתף גם ר׳ שמשון קצנלנבוויגן ונבחר שם כמטיף
למספר גלילות בליטא, לייסד סניפים, לארגון הציוני־
