... בתחילה נענו מעטים לבקשתנו, אבל בהמשך הזמן הצטרפו לנו יותר חברים,
וככה לקטנו פרורים־פרורים לחומר עבור הספר. אבל, הדברים שקבלנו רחוקים היו
מן הדרוש. חסרו לנו עוד הרבה רשימות שיתארו את ההסטוריה של חיי סוקולקה.
בעזרת "האנציקלופדיה של גלויות" שהמציאה לנו חומר היסטורי חשוב על עברה של
סוקולקה "מיום הווסדה, התגברנו על כל המכשולים שעמדו בדרכינו. כן עמדה
לפנינו שאלת עיבוד החומר ועריכתו. שדרשה מאמצים רבים. בערבים ישבנו, בשעות
הלילה, ועבדנו את הרשימות שהיו ברשותנו, והכינונו אותן כחומר לעריכת ספר־
הזכרון, המתאר לנו את אורח חייהם של אנשי עירנו ונותן לנו תמונה מקיפה על
