ר׳ הלל־משה היה זריז ומרבה לבקר אצל אדמו״רים מפורסמים כדי ללמוד מדרכם בקודש. הוא ישב גם חצי־שנה בליובאוויט׳ החבדי״ת נמשך לאורו של הגאון ר׳ מנחם־מנדל שניאורסון, בעל ה״צמח צדיק". בשנת תרכ״ט (1869) עלה עם משפחתו לארץ־ישראל, והשתקע בירושלים בעיר העתיקה, סמוך לכותל המערבי. בספרו "משכנות לאביר יעקב" הוכיח, לפי רמזים מן הקבלה, כי ההלכה על שמירת בית־המקדש חלה גם על ימינו, ולכן יש לדאוג לתיקון מצבו של הכותל המערבי. מחמת מצוקתו החומרית, נשאר הספר בכתב־יד ולא הצליח להדפיס ממנו אלא שני דפים בלבד. לדעתו, יש לבנות בית־מדרש ליד הכותל המערבי, שקול התורה לא ייפסק במקום קדוש זה. ברשות השלטון התורכי, היה נוהג להדליק נרות ליד הכותל מדי ערב שבת, והוא הנהיג גם מניין קבוע לתפילה בציבור בכל יום ליד הכותל המערבי. ...Connected nodes
