... בקיץ היו הילדים משחקים על שפת הנחל, מכניסים
רשתות למים לדוג בהם דגים קטנים, בימים של ראש־
השנה היו יהודי ה״פרבר״ הולכים אל הנחל ל״תשליך״.
גם בחורף היה לנו הנחל מקום שעשועים, היינו מחליקים
על הקרח, גולשים במזחלות, מראש הגשר מזה עד פסי
הרכבת מזה. כאן עמד בית הורי בודד בין בתי הגוים.
אני זוכרת את הפחד מפני "השקצים" הללו. בדרך
לבית־הספר היו גם רוגמים אבנים ומשסים בי את
כלביהם. בפחד תמיד נמשכו שנות נעורי, בכל זאת גם
ברחוב המוקף גוים היו ימי הילדות נעימים וחדורי
