... שבכל הבחירות לעיריה ולקהילה היהודית יצא חו"א בכשלון, ולא הצליח לבחור מאז 1917 אף ציר אחד, שעה שמפלגות סועלי־ציון ימין ושמאל ואף מפלגת־העבודה הציונית "התאחדות" זכו בנציגויות לא מבוטלות. רק בבחירות לעיריה בשנת 1934 חל מפנה לטובה, ובהתמודדות הכוחות עלה בידי ״בונד״ לזכות בציר אחד —
ונבחר ד״ר ח. פארל, רופא, מעסקני העיר הנאמנים והמסורים.
