העולמית, נתעוררו ויכוחים סוערים, שהביאו למשבר רציני בקן
ואף לפילוגו. השוללים את החלטות הועידה העולמית נימקו את
התנגדותם בכך, שאי־אפשר לקבל את חיי הקיבוץ כדרך יחידה
להגשמה וכן עלולה ההגדרה הסוציאליסטית להביא את התנועה
לאורינטאציה קומוניסטית. חלוקי־דעות אלה גרמו לפילוג בקן.
