... בזמן ההוא פנתה הקהילה היהודית אל נציגי הסתדרויות־
הנוער בהצעה, שיקבלו על עצמם עיבוד של מאה מורג (450 דונם)
אדמה, שהגרמנים הטילו על היהודים לעבדם. בראש הקהילה הועמד
מוניאק מארין, הרפתקן וקוביוסטוס, משתף פעולה עם הגרמנים.
ואף־על־פי שהיתה זאת הצעתו, קיבלנו את הדבר בהתלהבות.
ראינו בכך מוצא בשביל הבוגרים, מעין הכשרה. האדמה היתה
מוברת זה שלושים שנה והיתד. מרוחקת מן העיר שלושה קילומטר.
התחילו בעבודה ללא נסיון, ללא הדרכה. יום־יום יצאה חבורת
צעירים עם אתים ומעדרים. השדה מתחיל לתחיה. לא היה לנו
סוס ולא מחרשה. באתים הפכנו את הקרקע. האכרים עמדו מרחוק
