... הרב הכטמן לוה את עדתו הקטנה, בימי
מלחמת העולם הראשונה, עד בוא ימי האסון
הגדול של הבלחובצים י"ש (סוכות 1920). שגם
הוא ובני ביתו סבלו מהם הרבה. אחרי שהקהלה
נתערערה עם האסון ורבים יצאוה, מי לאמריקה
ומי לעיירות הסמוכות, מצא הרב הזדמנות לצאת
לסרני העיר. שם היו יוצאי רובליה אחדים.
בתמיכת הצבור הציוני במקום נבחר גם לרב
מטעם, בנה לו בית גדול השיא את בנותיו וחי חיי
הרווחה וכבוד, עד בוא השואה האיומה, בה נספה
הוא וקהלתו בין כל אלף הקהלות בפולין המדינה,
