חינוכו בביה"ס בראשון-לציון. נכנס להגנה בהיותו בן 14, לקבוצות איתות וקשר. משנת 1942
שימש כנוטר במשטרת הישובים שמרכזו היה בעפולה. עם פרוץ מלחמת השחרור נקרא לגדוד 52
בחטיבת גבעתי, והשתתף בכיבוש סרפנד, בקרבות תלדעריש,
גן-יבנה וכפר-אוריה. כן לקח חלק בהבטחת הדרך לירושלים.
