באוגוסט הגענו לארץ. תחנתנו הראשונה היתה תל-אל-כביר. וזוכר אני את להט המדבר
הארץ-ישראלי של ימי אוגוסט שהכביד עלינו מאוד. 3 הגדודים היו: גדוד 38, שקציניו, אנגלים
בלבד, גדוד 39 שקציניו מעורבים וגדוד ה-40 שכולו ארץ-ישראלי. יום אחד בתקופת חנייתנו
