װאם האבן זייער קינדהײט פארלארן;
די ײדישע ױגנט, װאם קרעכצט אײנגעבויגן,
מיט אײביקן פײן אין די יארן?
ווער װעט זײ אין שנייען, אין פראסטן דערװארעמען
און אויך זייער בראך און פארצװײפלונג דערבארעמען?
קײן ברויט ניט צו עסן, קײן װאסער צו טרינקען,
כאטש קריך אין די זומפן זיך דארטן פארזינקען.
זיי װערן געקלאמערט פון װילדע יםורים,
זײ זײנען װי שיפלעך געװארפן פון שטורעם,
זײ זײנען װי פײגלעך פון שפארבערם צעפרעסן, —
