חכם ידוע וקפדן גדול ביהדות. הוא לא נתן לכל התנגשות בין חסידים ומתנגדים. הוא
אף מסוגל היה לסטור על פניו של אדם שלא נשמע לו. אחר כך קבלו פרנסי העיר כרב
את הרב מװליה. הרב החדש פעל בעיקר בפתיחת ישיבה בבית המדרש הגדול והישן,
שם למדו בחורים מקרוב ומרחוק. הם היו מצוידים ב״ימי אוכל״ ולינות אצל בעלי בתים
