... לפי בקשתו של המלך יצאו נשים, ישישים, ילדים את העיר ותכשיטים ודברי יקר נגנזו. בין הנמלטים היו גם הרבנים ר׳ צבי־הירש (בתוך־העיר) ור׳ יהודוד יודל (מחוץ־לעיר). הגברים שנשארו בעיר, כ־1000 איש, גוייסו, וביניהם היו גם יהודים. האוכלוסיה היהודית בלבוב, כמו היהודים בריישה, פשמישל, טרמבובלה, בוצאץ, טארנופול, צורטקוב. היתה חייבת להגן על העיר יחד עם הנוצרים, ולשם כך ניתן לה ציוד של רובים ואבק־שרפה, ולפעמים גם תותחים. לצרכי ההגנה נשרפו הפרברים ובהם הושמד רכוש יהודי. כאשר התורכים התקרבו אל העיר דרשו אתConnected nodes
