... אחרי שד״ר בלומנפלד וחבריו בהנהלת״הקהלה השתדלו להכניס סדר באדמיניסטרציה, ניגשו בשנת 1843 לריאורגניזציה של תלמוד״התורה והונהגו בו גם לימודים כלליים. בתכנית הלימודים נכללו גם תנ״ך עם תרגום גרמני, חשבון, כתיבה, דקדוק עברי והשפה הגרמנית. מספר התלמידים היה 130. לכיסוי ההוצאות הספיקו הכנסות אחד הבתים של הקהלה, 800 פלורין. מנהלת בית־היתומים גם דאגה להמציא אוכל ובגד לנצרכים.
בית״היתומים נפתח ב״30 במאי 1842 בעזרתו הפעילה של מפקד המשטרה ברובע היהודי, הרש ציפר (1796 — 1858), שתרם למעלה זה את כל הונו 15 ב). האדוקים העשירים סרבו מתוך התנגדות למגמת מוסד זה להשתתף בעזרה כספית לקיומו. הממשלה תרמה 10 סטיפנדיות להשתלמות החניכים במלאכה ומקצוע.Connected nodes
