... העירונים התמרמרו, כי מספר החנויות היהודיות
הלך וגדל, ובשנת 1738 נמנו 71 חנויות בלתי־חוקיות
מחוץ לרובע היהודי. הם השיגו מידי המלך פקודה
שמסרה את סידור הענין לועדה מיוחדת, ואחרי משא־
ומתן נחתם ב־21 ביולי 1740 בין היהודים והעיריה
הסכם, בו התחיבו היהודים לעסוק במסחרם בהתאם
לחוזה משנת 1592. אך הואיל ובהסכם לא פורש
במיוחד שעל היהודים לפנות את חנויותיהם בעיר,
