נאקסוס. העירונים שהיו מודאגים בגלל המתחרים החדשים התחילו להציק להם, אך המלך זיגמונט־אוגוסט ריסן את התנגדותם. דווקא אז היה מעונין לקיים יחסים טובים עם תורכיה ועם יוסף הנשיא, נסיך נאקסוס, שבו היתה תלויה הכנסת הצירים הזרים בחצר השולטן. לכן הרשה המלך ב־22 בינואר 1567 ליוסף נשיא "שתמיד עזר לנו ולצירנו ובכל הזדמנות עמד לימינו", להקים בפולין מחסני־יין ולשלוח את שני סוכניו חיים כהן ואברהם דדדמוסו למטרה זו. הם קיבלו רשות לסחור בכל מקום וביחוד בלבוב, ולהעביר את סחורותיהם בלי שום תשלום־מכס. הם שוחררו גם משיפוט העיר והוויבודה והיו צריכים למסור דו״ח רק למלך או לקומיסארים שלו. סוכנים אלה, יהודים שמוצאם מפורטוגל, הגיעו לבובָה במאי 1567 והתחילו מיד במסחרם. העיריה עשתה הכל כדי לסלק את המתחרים הבלתי־רצויים ולא נרתעה אפילו מביטול הפריבילגיה של המלך. אולם המלך עמד בדעתו ושלח לעיריה אזהרה חריפה באיום עונש של 2000 פל׳ אם יזלזלו בהוראותיו. כאן מצאה העיריה עזר גם אצל היהודים, שראו בסוכנים מתחרים בלתי "רצויים גם להם, והיתה סיבה לכך. ...Source passage 2
