אשתו אחות ר׳ משה רבקש בעל "באר רגילה", קיבל
תורה מפי דודו ומפי הר״ר העשיל בלובלין. התחתן
עם בת ר׳ יוזפיש מלבוב, נינו של ר׳ אברהם הורוויץ
בעל "יש נוחלין", בשנת תל״ד הדפים ספרו הראשון
"דברי דוד" ובאותה שנה נתקבל לאב״ד בלידא פלך
ווילנא, ועל שם רבנותו זו היה מכונה ר׳ דוד לידא,
משם נתמנה לרב באוסטרהא, ובשנת תל״ז לאב״ד
במגנצא והגלילות, ובר״ח אלול ת״מ לאב״ד של קהל
האשכנזים באמשטרדם, שם פרסם ספריו, "סוד ה׳,"
ו״שרביט הזהב" וס׳ "מגדול דוד" ו״שימר שבת",
