כאמור, היה קלויז־בלדחדשים "מקום כינוס לכל פעולותיהם. בשנים הראשונות התקיימה ב״חדשים״ אסיפת הרבנים נגד ״כנס־הקהלות״ בקיץ 1878, שבה הוחלט לייסד את החברה "מחזיקי הדת", וכן התחילו להוציא־לאור שבועון בשם "מחזיקי הדת" ו״קול מחזיקי הדת" בעריכתו של מנדל מארגושס, מראשי חסידי בלז (אביו של מרגושס, עורך ה״טאגבלאט" בניו־יורק). בהנהלת ראשי חסידי־בלז ניהל ארגון "מחזיקי הדת" מלחמה חריפה נגד כל חידוש בחיי היהודים. ...
