... במשך שנים רבות היה ראש־הקהלה יגם ראש
ומנהיג המדינה ברייסין. הוא היה מייצג את שתיהן
בפני השלטונות וגם בפני המלך. בכספו הקים בית־
חולים ובית־הקדש, שנבנה ע״י פאולוס. הוא יסד
גם קרן "הכנסת כלה", קופת "גמילות חסדים" "(פיוס
מונס"), קרן־מלבושים לנערים עניים, קרן־נדבות
למחוסרי פרנסה וגם קרן לפדיון שבויים. ביתו היה
פתוח לאורחים ותמיד איכסן בביתו בחורי ישיבה,
