המבצעים ניגשה פלוגה פולנית בהנהגת הקצין לוש
אל ה״היכל" וביקשה לערוך בו חיפוש. הודיעו את
הדבר לד״ר ואססר, שהופיע מיד. בראותו את הקצין
מעשן סיגריה, ציווה עליו לזרוק קודם־כל את הסיגריה
בכניסתו לבית־אלוהים. הקצין סרב, וד״ר ואססר חסם
בגופו את פתח שער הבית והצהיר: "לא ארשה לחלל
מקום קדוש, רק על גווייתי תוכל להכנ ס כשאתה מעשן
סיגריה". דבריו פעלו והקצין זרק את הסיגריה מפיו
והתחיל בחיפושיו. ד״ר ואססר צעד אחריו כל הזמן
